Introduction and Overview

The Gokyo Lake trekking is one of most popular trekking destination in the world. It is Everest Region measured as an alternative trek to the traditional Everest Base Camp trek, the Gokyo Lake trek offers magnificent view of the mountain peaks and Ngozumpa Glacier the largest in the Nepal Himalayas. Gokyo Lake trekking is known as Gokyo valley trekking included Gokyo lake , Gokyo Ri, it also offers fantastic Himalayan views of four above 8,000m Himalaya including Mt. Evrest 8848m, Mt. Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Makalu 8,463m, Cho Oyu 8,201m and more Mountains. Hike to Gokyo valley require good physical fitness. March to May and September to December is best time  for this adventure trek in Gokyo valley. We also customized trip as per visitors choice and their holiday schedule with lifetime Adventure over Nepal Himalaya. Gokyo Trekking is moderate strenuous trail in Everest region trekking and required minimum two weeks holidays. Minimum two weeks holidays required for Nepal Gokyo trekking .

The Gokyo Lake trek start from Lukla (2800m), after 35 minute mountain flight from Kathmandu. We spend the next few days trekking and interacting amongst the mountain people also known as Sherpa’s we stay at local lodges and trek into the heartland of their villages. Everything is organized in conjunction with local Sherpa guides.  The final destination of Gokyo lake Trekking is Gokyo Ri Peak. Gokyo Ri is the closest point to observe the Everest. Our trekking guide led Gokyo valley trek through the Sherpa village Phakding and Namche bazar, Dole, Machhermo, Gokyo,  Tengboche and finally back to Lukla. This trekking trip required minimum two weeks holidays and no required previous hiking or trekking experience. We wish to our trekkers this Gokyo Lake trekking will be increadible for lifetime.

Day to day Itinerary

  • Arrival Kathmandu airport (1345m)

    Everest Trek’s Representative pick up you from Kathmandu airport and transferred to hotel by private tourist vehicle. Evening welcome dinner.
  • Kathmandu valley sightseeing tour

    Our sightseeing trip will start at 9AM in the morning after breakfast. We will provide a private vehicle and professional city guide. You will visit Pasupatinath temple, Buddhanath, Shyambhunath and Kathmandu durbar square. The evening includes a final briefing and preparations for the trek. Overnight at hotel.
  • Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2,652m)

    After breakfast, we get transferred to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport for an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m), a gateway destination from where our trek starts. After an adventurous 35 minute flight above breathtaking green and white mountains, we reach the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. This is one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating in a dramatic landing on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. Here we meet our other crew members and after some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla until we reach Phakding. To assist in acclimatization, we only have a short hike today. However, if interested in additional activities we can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. Overnight at Phakding.
  • Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3441m)

    Namche Bazaar known as the Gateway to Everest, there are many good hotels and lodges here, along the whole Everest trail this is quite a big village. Overnight at Guesthouse.
  • Namche Bazaar Acclimatization day

    We will spend a day here in order to acclimatize and adjust to the thinning of the air. A short trek to a museum celebrating the traditional customs of the Sherpa people. Today we hike up the Syangboche Airport, and around Everest View Hotel. From this point, we have rewarding views of the Himalayas with a stunning sunrise or sunset over the panorama of the Khumbu peaks. Overnight at guest house.
  • Namche Bazar to Phorste Thanga (3680m)

    Today, the trail climbs steeply out of valley through rhododendron forest, juniper and large conifers start to appear as the elevation increases making trekking beautiful in spring. The trail passes through Yak Kharkas and summer settlements. The views of Khumbi La and Tawache are magnificent through out the day.
  • Phorste to Machherma (4470m)

    The trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kengtega and up towards Cho Oyu and descend to a river and again climbs steep to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier and we will reach at Machherma by early noon.
  • Machherma to Gokyo (4790 meters)

    Today the trek takes us at one of our final destination, Gokyo (4790m). We will make this as base camp for 3 nights as we will have sightseeing trips around Gokyo.
  • Trek to Gokyo Ri (5483m) and then Back to Gokyo

    Today, early in the morning we have steep climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri at elevation of 5483 meters, ample rewards to anyone that attempts this trip. There are stunning views of the supper Gokyo valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the whole Khumbu Himalayas, such as giants as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang can be seen. Those who explore the glacier and Gokyo peak are rewarded. This day we have for acclimatization and afternoon back to the camp.
  • Gokyo Ri to Dole (4200m)

    6 hours: Following same trail down, we will make our descent to Dole.
  • Dole to Namche Bazaar via Khumjung village (3780m)

    Descend to Namche Bazaar via typical Sherpa village of Khumjung. Leaving the mountains behind us our descent continues back to the town of Namche Bazaar at elevation of 3441m.
  • Namche Bazar to Lukla (2804m)

    Finally we return to Lukla where the trek begin, which seems a lifetime ago. Enjoying time to reflect on the trek as a group and the personal achievement of all those who took part.
  • Lukla to Kathmandu

    An early morning 35 minute scenic flight back to Kathmandu provides time to reflect upon the mountains you have recently visited for one last time. Overnight at hotel.
  • Free for shopping in Kathmandu

    Leisure day in Kathmandu and free for shopping. Evening you will have Nepali dinner party with traditional restaurant.
  • Final Departure

    You will transfer to Kathmandu airport for your home destination.
