Lunch will be served here. Contunue hike uphill to Namche. Our path along the riverbank is flanked by two crossings, one of which is the Hillary Suspension Bridge. The Brace your legs for a continual uphill trek at this point, alternating between a gradual grade and some seriously steep ground!. Our destination, Tengboche, it is known as one of the most beautiful places enroute Everest Base Camp. Its views, which include Ama Dablam, are legendary. We will stop in on the Tengboche monastery, which is one of the largest in Khumbu. -

Dingboche (Rest Day)
We will have chance to rest up before the last leg of our adventure to Island peak climbing. Savor a full day of exploring Dingboche and the surrounding valleys of Chhukung and Imja, the latter of which links with Island Peak, the high passes of Amphu Laptsa and Makalu Barun National Park. Taking an optional trek to the valleys will pay off in rewarding views, but taking it easy is the most important thing today. We need good rest for the penultimate day of ascent next day. -
Dingboche to Lobuche (4900m)
From Dingboche onward, hike will move more gradually be more challenging, due to the higher altitude. We will pass Dungla, but not before a strong steep walk to the top of a high hill. Here are the memorial stupas dedicated to the climbers and trekkers who lost their lives to Everest over the years. The next part of our adventure brings over craggy mountain terrain to Lobuche, a small settlement with amazing views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari and the Nuptse. -
Everest Base Camp, Kala Patter and Chukhung (5160m, 9 hours hiking)
After an early rise, we have a short trek to Gorak Shep where we will have breakfast and some tea before beginning the walk up to Kala Pattar (5545m) A gradual ascent enables you to build the slow, steady rhythm required when walking at high altitude. From the lodge the ascent is quite steep, so start very slowly and try to ascend at steady rhythmic pace. Our goal Kala Pattar, is the rocky hilltop below Pumori. It is a tough walk, but the view from the top surpasses the wildest imagination. It will probably take a good hour and a half to reach the summit from Gorak Shep, although lower viewpoints will provide views almost as good. Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Taweche, Kantega and Everest the highest mountain in the world, and some 200 metres below, the area of the Everest Base Camp can be seen in a bowl at the bottom of the Khumbu Ice Fall. For many trekkers, reaching Kala Pattar is a very emotional experience and it is worthwhile spending as long as you wish to savour this special moment. Then head towards Chukhung and Island Peak. It's another 5km to Chukhung where we spend the night. -
Chukhung to Isand Peak Base Camp (Cimbing Training, 5200m)
Morning we will start with the relatively short hike to Island Peak Base Camp. It is possible to make the Island Peak summit with no prior climbing experience (assuming sufficient physical fitness), but having past climbs under your belt will make you a stronger and more confident climber. You'll enjoy the summit more if you aren't quite so anxious about the actual climbing! Staff will give you hands-on training on the use of implements like the ice axe and climbing boot, and demonstrate moving up and down on ropes. Get some rest, we push for the summit at midnight. -
Island Peak Summit and Returen to Chukhung (6189m)
We wake up early today at around 12 to 1 am and have our breakfast before beginning our climb. It is important we reach the summit before noon because in the afternoon the strong winds in the highlands might become a barrier for a successful summit. The trail moves up beyond the base camp for several hundred meters before striking off the steep hillside. Initially sandy, the path soon turns to grass before becoming boulder strewn. As we climb up the hill, we will see that the slope narrows and the trail enters a steep rock channel. We climb the rock gully. This is not difficult, but there are several short rock steps to climb before we emerge on the right side of the gully. The route then follows a ridgeline, which leads to an exhilarating and exposed traverse onto the snout of the summit glacier. The guides will fix a rope when required. A steep snow slope leads us onto the summit ridge. Both fixed rope and man rope will be used during the climb for safety. We use fix rope after successfully climbing on rock. The length of the rope will usually be of 350m. However, the length depends on the time of the season and the crevasses. There are two newly formed crevasses which are approximately 3 and 4 meters long. We will be using ladders to cross them. After enjoying the summit views, and taking pictures, we descend all the way to Island Peak Base Camp where some of our crew is waiting for us. We celebrate on our successful Island Peak climb. -
Chukhung to Tengboche (4400m)
We retrace the original steps of our ascent as we make our way back down the mountain again. The fascinating culture of the Sherpas is on display once more - don't miss a peak at the yak-herding stations. -
Tengboche to Namche Bazar
The walk from Pheriche back to Tengboche is mainly downhill, although it does, counterintuitively, require an hour scaling a hill. We'll be in Namche by late afternoon and off to bed before our last day on the mountain. -
Nanche Bazar to Lukla (2886m)
Today we follow the trail through Jorsale and back to Phakding where we take lunch. In the afternoon it is a short walk with great views of Kusum Kangaru back to our lodge in Lukla. -
